Step By Step

  • Step 1:

    Turn off the power that goes to the fan. Test to ensure that there is no electrical current by using a voltage tester.

  • Step 2:

    Remove both the light shade and light fixture, then remove the blades, and finally remove the motor housing.

  • Step 3:

    It's very important to remember the placement of the wires so you can reproduce during installment. Take a photo or write down if necessary.

  • Step 4:

    (Optional) if the ceiling fan electrical box isn’t securely fastened, cut a 2×4 to fit between the two rafters. Go into the attic where the fan is and fasten the 2×4 between the house frames. Return to the room of the fan installation and screw the electrical box to the 2×4 you just fastened.

  • Step 5:

    Lay out all the parts to your new ceiling fan and make sure no parts are missing.

  • Step 6:

    Install the mounting plate.

  • Step 7:

    Wire the fan the exact same way it was previously. If needed, paint the ceiling.

  • Step 8:

    Install the canopy and assemble the blades, then install the Light Fixture. Attach the light shade, turn the power back on and test the new ceiling fan. You are now ready to enjoy your newly installed ceiling fan!
