Thirty years ago, Sonoma County’s Secret Santa program was created by what is now called the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) to brighten the holiday season for members of our community who are in need. Since that time, the program has grown to include over 125 county agencies, schools, and organizations to deliver everything from holiday gifts to life-changing items like home repairs and healthcare. Friedman’s Home Improvement is proud to be a founding partner of the Secret Santa Program and to have a part in bringing joy to families throughout Sonoma County.
With COVID-19 concerns and the recent fires, the holiday season will look a little different this year – and so will the Secret Santa program. One thing that won’t change is the spirit of giving and helping those in our community who need it most.
In previous years, the Secret Santa program distributed families’ holiday wishes on red hearts to local businesses for community gift-giving. To keep everyone healthy and safe, this year’s program will be entirely virtual, with donations only being accepted online. With so many in our community struggling from recent events, CVNL encourages everyone in the community to participate by adopting hearts or writing a Santa Letter online on the Secret Santa website. If you would like to participate, you also have the option of making a monetary gift or a gift card donation. CVNL will coordinate donations and gift distribution through a safe, contactless process.
Although social distancing measures mean changes to the Secret Santa program, you can still make a huge impact in the lives of our friends and neighbors who are in need. From CVNL and all of us at Friedman’s Home Improvement, we thank you for your generosity and for ensuring this holiday season is filled with joy for everyone in our community!
